Flat Rate features
Flat Rate is the easiest and most straightforward shipping option type. Shipping rate is the same for all cases however it has several calculation algorithms that make this shipping type is flexible enough. Even more flexibility is available when you apply Shipping Rules to it.
Flat Rate settings
- Served Shipping Areas. You can limit a Flat Rate shipping option to specific shipping areas. It means this shipping option will only be available for delivery addresses that matche conditions of the selected areas. Leave empty to apply this option to ANY delivery address.
- Calculation Type. 4 calculation algorithms are available: FPO (fixed per order), FPI (fixed per item), FPUW (fixed per unit of weight), POS (percentage of order subtotal).
- Shipping Rate. In base currency. Total cost depends on shipping rate and calculation algorithm.
- Round Shipping Rate to Integer. If enabled, calculated shipping cost will be rounded up after all shipping rules are applied.
- Min Rate. Will be applied if calculated shipping cost is less than 'Min rate' value.
- Max Rate. Will be applied if calculated shipping cost is more than 'Max rate' value.
Flat Rate calculation types
FPO — fixed per order
The rate will be applied for the whole order regardless of the products quantity, weight and subtotal in the cart.
Example: $2 FPO. Shipping cost for 10 items of product = $2
FPI — fixed per item
The rate will be applied for every product item in the cart.
Example: $2 FPI. Rate for 10 items of product = $20
FPUW — fixed per unit of weight
The shipping cost will be calculated depending on the cart weight.
Example: $2 FPUW. Rate for 10 items of product with weight 2 lb = $40
POS — percentage of order subtotal
The shipping cost will be calculated depending on the cart subtotal. Check Advanced settings to specify Tax and Discount inclusion.
Example: 10% POS. Rate for 10 items, of product with price $20 = $20.
